Maths Inquire

Description: This term we have been learning how to compare using graphs in maths. Graphs are very important in the so we could compare what's popular and how much did something cost from 2011 to 2016 like for example cocaine might have cost $120 per gram in 2011 and in 2016 it might have cost $300 per gram. So James our teacher gave us a task to design a graph to compare whatever we wanted. So I got into a of group 2 and we decided to compare with illegal drugs to see how much they cost in New Zealand from 2011 to 2016.

Description: In class every monday we had to make a product from a twenty dollar loan for market day. At the end we had to pay back what we had spent on making our product. My group had me jonty and louis in it and we decided to make art. We made ones in canvases laminated an all sorts we sold out in the first ten mins. Luckily we had some money left over and we used it to make more at the end we made 93 dollars profet. The money is going towards sports gear.

feedback/feedfoward i think you did a good job but next time you could get some pics of what you were selling.

evaluation i agree but all of the drawings we made got sold and i didn't find the pics
on the RSS blog

description: in writing we have been learning to persuaded people to buy a everyday useless item.
Main ideas shown where the lines meet or intersect
- colour scheme / plain background simple colours thats what we amid for. we made a video add and a poster to make them want to buy the product. our item we chose was a rugby ball with a hole in it and its only 69.99.

Description: In class we have done some Olympic art. My sport I did is one of my favourite sports. I got basketball and had to make a pop art about it. Here it is.

Feedback/feedfroward: I think your art is good but you needed to finish it quicker and Mabey make it symmetrical Jayden.

I agree with Jayden but the reason that it isn't symmetrical is because I dint have the time to plan and  I berly even got it done in this time frame and I should of.

Et reo

Description every Monday we learn Maori. This term we have had two whakatauki. They are kind of like a quote, they are related to people caring and looking out for people. The quote in English is the most important thing in the world-the people, the people, the people. We had to make a portrait and stick it up on the wall here it is.

You did a good job at explaining the task but next time you should explain the learning AJ

I learnt two whakatauki. I Learned how to cut flax and you must never seperate the kid from its parents so when you cut flax a smaller flax can't be within to flax's and that's the learning.

panekiritanga post.

Description our term goal is panekiritanga witch mean excellence. We made a slide on how to show
excellence and we set some goals and hope to achieve them. We had to make a meme while showing  excellence and add a quote and put them on the slide

Feedfroward/feedback: I like your quote but maybe you could fill in a bit more. Houston

Evaluation this was diffently the most challenging post because I didn't have as much time as everybody else but I didn't include much learning.

Description for the last 6 week we have been planning and get to write our story and I changed my plan from a boy being hitler grandson and what his life is like he is almost untouchable no one wants to get on the wrong side of him but he moves school and his invisibility have dissapeard we had to make a slide with goals and all sort of plans on it and I am going to keep writing this till school finishes.

So what if the teacher founded a bite of coke in my desk and I had some previous drug history. I wasen't a bad kid but every one else thought so even foster care didn't want me. So I found myself homeless and that how my life has been for the last three months it hasn't been so bad I mean it could be worse. The old lady over the road let me have the left over and let me sleep under the porch my life was pretty messed up my parent had got into a massive argument and ended up in a insane soliom and there bad behaviour got them put in solerty shortly after they died. My feet are dying from all the glass on the pavement I cross through a dark elyway and a bunch of goon are sitting on the roof of a back of a diary having a sig. Ou little man give us your money I don't have any I stutter you little dirt poor ratbag he yelled don't set foot on our land  again come Fred said one of his mates give him a hiding to be continued.....
Feedback/ feedfroward

Book buddy

Description: in class for reading we have 6 hour a week and in a that time we have three card which have a task on them and we need to do that we also get a partner and a coach and you need to keep them up to date by choseing a chapter number that we need to be at by the end of the week and we have a slide that we update the work from the card to show our learning here it is.

Description: Mathex is wear the school selects their best math matiction to go in a group compition and the winner wins the award. We had practice every day. After brunch we would go to the staff room for two week after the trials had happened. Then we got into the groups and had a Mathex question answering section and 5 week later the day came were we got in a car and went to the horse racing stadium. there are two sets of questions, really hard questions, and the quick fire question. On the day we came 20th the second team came thirty nine out of fifty-one. Carncot and Hokowhitu came 2 equal and Winchester won. Our year 5 team came second.

I think I have got better at working in a team and keeping focused on solving the question, even when the runner was getting it checked.

Big idea: in Mathex we had to use team work we did very well at the first questions and the quick fire we did not do so good. Here's a question example Mrs Jones has 8 black gloves and 10 brown gloves in her drawer.  She blindly picks up some gloves from the drawer.  What is the minimum number of gloves Mrs Jones will have to pick up to be certain to find a pair of gloves of the same colour?

Feedback/feedfroward:It was cool next time you could show a picture of a question. #AJ

Evaluation: I disagree with AJ and I think that I don't need to put a pic of the question  because I wrote it and I did a good job of disrobing but next time I could make the story seem like it's happening.

feedback/feedfoward: I like how you have said you can chose between et reo or kapa haka next time I think you should aded more info. jack

evaluation: i agree with jack that i need to add more info and not to change the plan at the last miunte
but other than that i did a good job at making the game and memorizing the song.

feedback/feedfoword:i think you did good at getting a good photo of you but i think that next time you could get a picture of you taking a photo of you taking a shot. Louis

evaluation: We did good at douglas park and we did our part by winning basketball
but next time we should have balanced the better and if next year if our year five are balanced we might take out the turana challenge

turtle writing

Description: In class for the last two of weeks in writing we have been gathering information to write a little article about turtles. The first week i did not look at a web page turtle live for a lot longer than us and give baby a lot and this is how they have lived for over fifteen million year. They were around the time of the dinosaurs age. They have evolved is lots of way if you conpered the two you wound not think there are the same animal the oldest turtle is 185.

Sea turtle eggs are leathery and the size of a pin pong ball 800 out of 1000 will hatch that a twenty% chance that is won't make it out of its eggs. 400 out of the 800 will not make it to the  water from ether being brutally murder by sea gulls or wondering the wrong way onto the road and get themselves run over. 200 will make it to deep water because of sallow predators and the currents. Pollution is one of the top killers for sea turtles. Turtles the age between 3 to 5 or 20 to 50 can bred.

This is how Sea turtles have lived for 15 million years turtles have hard shells to protect them from predators they are among the oldest primitive of reptiles having evolved millions of years ago. Turtles spend most of there life under the water they have adopted aquatic life with webbed feet or flippers and a streamline body. But this dose stop twenty making it to adults and two getting to breeding age. There is a new species of giant tortes found in the Galapagos.

Feedback/Feedfoword: I think that you added lots of information and detail.
you could add just a little more detail.

Moon science

Description: In science we have been learning about the moon. The teachers set a task for us to make a movie about the moon. The moon orbits the earth. The same side of the moon always faces the Earth. The far side of the moon was first observed by humans in 1959 when the unmanned Soviet Luna 3 mission orbited the moon and photographed it. neil armstrong and Buzz Aldrin (on NASA's Apollo 11 mission, which also included Michael Collins) were the first people to walk on the moon, on July 20, 1969.

If you were standing on the moon, the sky would always appear dark, even during the daytime. Also, from any spot on the moon (except on the far side of the moon where you cannot see the Earth), the earth would always be in the same place in the sky; the phase of the Earth changes and the Earth rotates, displaying various continents.

big idea:

  • The moon is not a planet, but a satellite of the Earth.
  • The surface area of the moon is 14,658,000 square miles or 9.4 billion acres.
  • Only 59% of the moon's surface is visible from earth.
  • The moon rotates at 10 miles per hour compared to the earth's rotation of 1000 miles per hour.

evaluation: I think that we got a lot of work done is a short amount of time and I got a lot of information on my slid next time i need to work on being qick and looking at better web pages

Sunday, 29 May 2016

Description in class we did a test I  inproved a lot a got 48 a year ago and this year I got 76. I need to
Work on a answering the easy question before the hard questions and do prove it with the teacher. at home particular rounding which was one of the things that i needed to work on last year the thing that i dont bother with is smallest to larget because it take to long so and i always get wrong.
